Description:  CN through freight approaches Jacobsen Rd. as it heads northeast via former SOO rails at Town of Menasha, WI on 28 Mar. '14. Train was coming from Stevens Point and had briefly stopped at the north end of the Neenah yard so it could reverse direction and continue on to Green Bay. It had two locomotives GTW 5944 pulling and CN 2639 pushing.

Butte Des Morts Beach Rd. at Stroebe, WI on 15 Jun. ’14. Through freight was headed from Stevens Point to Green Bay and had two locomotives CN 5641 pulling and CN 8947 pushing. Local had a very friendly crew hauling 26 cars for Appleton, Little Chute and Kaukauna.

Description:  CN local backs past the depot into the former C&NW yard at Appleton Junction, WI on 10 Jul. '14. It was an unusually long train from Neenah; they dropped off 56 cars before eventually continuing on to Little Chute and Kaukauna with 11 more cars. A few blocks away to the southeast, the CN local returning from Kimberly and Combined Locks was halted at S. Mason St., waiting until it could return to the yard.

Description:  CN local approaches N. Oneida St. as it heads southwest via former C&NW rails near downtown Appleton, WI on 22 Jul. '14. Train had just finished working Little Chute and Kaukauna was heading back to Neenah, it will make a brief stop at Appleton Junction enroute. There used to be a lot of rail activity along this stretch, the buildings on both sides of the track used to receive rail service for example, but that was probably more than 25 years ago.

In the foreground you can see the remnants of a spur that used to serve the SCA Tissue mill, behind me. The railroad crossing sign still says "2 Tracks," unfortunately this second track has been missing for quite a few years.
