A CN local crosses the junction with the former C&NW right-of-way, now the Mountain-Bay State Trail, while servicing the Seneca Foods facility (out-of-frame to left) via former SOO rails at Shawano, WI on 16 Oct. '18. The interlocking tower that once guarded the junction stood to the right, south of SOO tracks and east of C&NW tracks, until it was torn down circa 1995. I thought the tower stood by the clump of trees on this side of the boxcar, but a review of others' photographs on this site as well as some old maps has proven that my recollection of the tower's location was erroneous. There are remnants of a foundation there, but it must have been something else. |
