Title:
IC 9568, CN 4711, CN 4705
Description:
A pair of CN locals face-off on the yard lead at the north end of the former SOO yard along Union St. at the former Adams St. grade crossing at Neenah, WI on 4 Jul. '19. Near local was waiting to return to the yard from Menasha and had one locomotive, IC 9568. Far local, throwing a little smoke, was preparing to cross over to the passing siding and head toward Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna, and had two locomotives, CN 4711 and CN 4705. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current yard (a few blocks to the south) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard here. Adams St. was originally Washington St., until at least 1913.
