Train had four locomotives, BCOL 4649 and CN 2125 pulling as well as CN 2221 and CN (?) pushing. The large, tan building is Alta Resources, 2435 Schultz Dr., Neenah, WI. The silo of American Colloid Co., 901 Acco Ave, Neenah, WI 54956, a rail customer, is visible in the background. The Hwy. G overpass is in the background at right.

Description:  A CN container train bisects the Rat River Wildlife Area and crosses the frozen Rat River via the former SOO bridge as it speeds southeast at Medina Junction, WI, on 20 Feb. '21. Train had two locomotives, CN 8925 pulling and BCOL 4650 mid-train. There was no vandalism to the bridge when I was here last, 23 Jan. '16.

Description:  CN ore train crosses the Menasha Channel of the Fox River via former joint MILW/ SOO bridge and approaches the junction with the former C&NW mainline as it crawls through Menasha, WI pulling 215 ore cars on 5 May '14. It pulled up as far as the swing bridge over the Fox River Navigation Canal, halted, then reversed to back into the former SOO yard at Neenah. Train had four locomotives, CN 5542, BCOL 4651, CN 8821, and CN 2007. I am left to wonder if there has ever been this much horsepower on this line.

Description:  CN through freight crosses Arndt St. and parallels S. Broadway aRd the Fox River as it heads southwest via former C&NW rails at Green Bay, WI on 21 Jul. '14. It is also crossing the turnout for the north leg of the wye that leads to the remnants of former GB&W Norwood Yard. It has just pulled out of the former C&NW/GB&W yards at North Green Bay. I don't know its ultimate destination, but it had loaded TTPX wood chip cars which will end up in Neenah eventually.

Description:  A CN through freight crosses Towmen Rd., as it heads northeast at Shawano Junction, WI on 15 Feb. '20. Train had four locomotives, CN 5414, BCOL 4652, CN 2578, CN 4711. The train is transitioning from the former SOO rails to the former C&NW rails. This spot used to be named Fox River Junction, after several segments of the original C&NW main line through Menasha and Neenah were removed and a turnout was installed here which allows the bypass of missing C&NW rails by using former SOO rails.

I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard still here.
