Train had two locomotives, BNSF 5159 and BNSF 9147. The depot's roof is partially visible above the train, the matching freight house is partially visible beyond the lead locomotive. CSX 3032 and BNSF 5312
Description:
A CN through freight parallels Union St. and passes the former Sherry St. grade crossing as it shoves a cut of cars into the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 24 Mar. '19. The historic Neenah Cheese & Cold Storage Co. facility, 434 Sherry St., is partially visible beyond the train at right. It was built in 1902 after the original 1892 building was destroyed by fire and is currently used for storage. The historic Murer House, 432 Sherry St., is partially visible beyond that. It was built by Felix Murer in 1892 and is currently home to Sherry Town Station. The WC (later SOO) depot stood on the opposite side of Sherry St. from those two buildings; it was built on the north side of Sherry St. on the east side of the tracks in 1891. It replaced the ca. 1881 depot that stood at the west end of Wisconsin Ave. The Sherry St. depot was demolished ca. 1955 when a new depot was built between Main St. and N. Lake St. on the west leg of the wye, about 850 ft. to the northwest. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard here.

Description:
A pair of BNSF locomotives lead a unit train of 2-bay covered hoppers southwest via CN, former SOO, rails along Harrison St. at Neenah, WI on 27 Dec. '17. Neenah Foundry Plant 2 & Plant 3 loom beyond the train. Plant 2 opened in 1960 and Plant 3 was built in 1967. Plant 1 opened in 1918 and stood about a mile to the north, until it was closed in 1994 and eventually demolished. A remnant of the former C&NW main line, now relegated to a passing siding, is visible at right.

NS 9245 and NS 7656
Description:
A pair of visitors from out-of-town lead a CN through freight along Hwy. 41, past American Colloid Co., 901 Acco Ave., and approaching the Hwy. G overpass, while headed southwest via former C&NW rails at Snells, WI on 28 Jul. '18. Snells, formerly known as Snell’s Station or Snell’s Crossing, is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. This once small, rural community included a depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. It does not look like any substantial remnants of the community remain, even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone. The SOO rails run parallel between the train and the highway.

NS 9304 and CN 2511
Description:
A CN through freight slowly crosses N. Lake St. as it heads northwest via former SOO rails at Neenah, WI on 4 Jan. '18. I thought that they had closed the grade crossing to repair it because it is starting to get a little rough, but it turns out they needed to replace a section of rail on the main line. Now the grade crossing is just a little rougher. Eggers Industries, 164 N. Lake St., Neenah, WI, a rail customer, is partially visible at right. Founded at Neenah, WI, in 1910 as Hardwood Products Co., construction of the facility commenced in Oct. ’10. It was renamed Hardwood Products Corp. as a result of a merger with Mississippi Veneer & Lumber Co. on 20 Apr. ’22 (the latter company was formed by the same businessmen who founded the Neenah company). Eggers Industries acquired Hardwood Products Corp. in 1965 and renamed it Eggers Hardwood Products Corp. Eggers was founded by Fred W. Eggers at Two Rivers, WI in 1884 to make wood baskets used by farmers. They later started making plywood and other wood veneer products. There used to be 3 spurs to service the facility, now there is only 1.

Snells, formerly known as Snell’s Station or Snell’s Crossing, is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. This small, rural community once included a post office, depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. It does not look like any real remnants of the original community remain. Even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone. The former C&NW rails, also in use by CN, run parallel on other side of the train. The facility at left, with Veriha Trucking banners, has an indoor spur, but I don't know if it is currently used. I believe it is, or was, owned by RGL Logistics, 1715/1725 Dixie Rd., Neenah, WI (physically located in Town of Neenah). Previous occupants of the facility include Checker Logistics and Warehouse Specialists, Inc.
