CN 9673
Title:  CN 9673
Description:  CN local passes the historic Atlas Paper Co. mill on the north bank of the Fox River and begins to ascend the grade out of the Flats as it heads back to the former C&NW yard at Appleton Junction, WI with 27 cars on 2 Jul. ‘14. Train had finished working Kimberly, Combined Locks, and eastern Appleton. The Atlas mill, completed in 1878, eventually became part of the Kimberly-Clark Corp. The mill ceased operation ca. 1999, the year Kimberly-Clark donated it to the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame opened its new home as well as its interactive museum, the Paper Discovery Center, 26 Feb. ’05.

CN 9673
Title:  CN 9673
Description:  CN local pauses on former C&NW rails in Town of Menasha and fouls W. Prospect Ave./Hwy. BB as it drops its string of cars at the southwest end of the yard at Appleton Junction, WI on 2 Jul. ‘14. Train had finished working Kimberly, Combined Locks, and eastern Appleton and had one locomotive, CN 9673 (GP40-2LW). I captured this closeup because I was curious about the remnants of the stenciled "Newberry" faintly visible on the access panel underneath the cab window.
