IC 2720 and CN 5636
Title:  IC 2720 and CN 5636
Description:  CN through freight parallels Hwy. 41 and passes the Hwy. G overpass as it heads southwest via former SOO rails at Snells, WI on 12 Aug. '17. Snells is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. A Post Office was established 4 May 1876, originally called Snell’s Station, sometimes referred to as Snell’s Crossing. This small, rural community once included a depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. Snells was located at Mile 183 on the SOO’s Trevor to Somerset line and Mile 173.1 on the C&NW’s Milwaukee to Marinette line. The former SOO main line lies between the train and the highway. It does not look like any real remnants of the original community remain. Even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone. Train had four locomotives, IC 2720 and CN 5636 leading and CN 5639 and CN 8913 mid-train.
