CN 2859, CN 3201, CN 3179
Title:  CN 2859, CN 3201, CN 3179
Description:  A CN through freight parallels Hwy. 41 and passes the Hwy. G overpass as it heads southwest via former SOO rails at Snells, WI on 30 Aug. '19. Snells is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. A Post Office was established on 4 May 1876, originally called Snell’s Station, sometimes referred to as Snell’s Crossing. This once small, rural community included a depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. It does not look like any substantial remnants of the community remain, even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone (it is not a station on the CN system map). Train had three locomotives, CN 2859, CN 3201, CN 3179. A remnant of the former C&NW main line runs parallel along the other side of the train.

CN 3179
Title:  CN 3179
Description:  A CN unit train of tank cars passes the Main St. overpass and leans into the west leg of the wye at the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 8 Dec. '19. Train had two locomotives, CN 3179 pulling and CN 3168 pushing. The north leg of the wye bisects the scene. The remnants of the foundation from the ca. 1955 masonry SOO depot are partially visible at right. The pile of railroad ties rests atop the remnants of the foundation. The masonry depot was built to replace the wooden depot built in 1891 on Sherry St., about 850 ft. to the southeast, which was torn down soon after the new one opened.
