A CN through freight crosses the Wolf River via the former SOO bridge as it heads northwest at Gills Landing, WI, on 20 Feb. '21. The bridge was built as a swing bridge in 1894. A significant mechanical failure left the pivot inoperable from 2003 until the fall of 2011, when it was converted into a vertical lift bridge. According to bridgehunter.com, it "is likely the only vertical-lift bridge in the world with a center lift tower". |
