| Looking at the remnants of a billboard painted on the northeast wall of the former Neenah Stove Works, currently occupied by Hafemeister Machine Corp., 635 Main St. and International Children's Fund, 619 Main St., at Neenah, WI on 6 Jun. ’15. The sign says, “Bergstrom Stove Co., Royal Stoves and Ranges.” Royal was the brand name of the line of stoves manufactured by Bergstrom Stove Co. It is interesting to think that this billboard was painted in the late 19th century to attract the attention of people arriving in, or passing through, Neenah by railroad from points west, north, and south. The only people that could see this sign were passengers on a train or a handful of people plying the south end of Little Lake Butte des Morts in small boats. |
