CSX 424, CSX 927, CSX 9014, et al.
Description:
A CN container train passes the Main St. overpass as it traverses the west leg of the wye at the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 13 Jun. '18. The white building beyond the train at right is, or was, Progressive Paper Storage, Inc. (formerly Kimberly-Clark Warehouse (K-C Warehouse)). It does not receive rail service, but it looks like there may have been a spur on the northwest side of the building in the past. Train had six locomotives, CN 2242, CN 2453, CN 5734, CSX 424, CSX 927, CSX 9014. Several of Neenah's hideous, modern buildings pollute the skyline in the background at right (obviously I am not a fan of modern, so-called, architecture).

NS 9308, UP 8066, UP 7064, UP 2555
Description:
An interesting quartet of foreigners lead a unit train of 2-bay covered hoppers parallel to Hwy. 41 and approaching the Hwy. G overpass while headed northeast via CN, former SOO, rails at Snells, WI on 12 Jul. '18. Snells, formerly known as Snell’s Station or Snell’s Crossing, is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. This small, rural community once included a post office, depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. It does not look like any real remnants of the original community remain. Even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone. The former C&NW rails, also in use by CN, run parallel on other side of the train. The facility at left, with Veriha Trucking banners, has an indoor spur, but I don't know if it is currently used. I believe it is, or was, owned by RGL Logistics, 1715/1725 Dixie Rd., Neenah, WI (physically located in Town of Neenah). Previous occupants of the facility include Checker Logistics and Warehouse Specialists, Inc.

Title:
CSX 3032 and BNSF 5312
Description:
A CN through freight parallels Union St. and passes the former Sherry St. grade crossing as it shoves a cut of cars into the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 24 Mar. '19. The historic Neenah Cheese & Cold Storage Co. facility, 434 Sherry St., is partially visible beyond the train at right. It was built in 1902 after the original 1892 building was destroyed by fire and is currently used for storage. The historic Murer House, 432 Sherry St., is partially visible beyond that. It was built by Felix Murer in 1892 and is currently home to Sherry Town Station. The WC (later SOO) depot stood on the opposite side of Sherry St. from those two buildings; it was built on the north side of Sherry St. on the east side of the tracks in 1891. It replaced the ca. 1871 depot that stood at the west end of Wisconsin Ave. The Sherry St. depot was demolished ca. 1955 when a new depot was built between Main St. and N. Lake St. on the west leg of the wye, about 850 ft. to the northwest. The area between the tracks and Union St., from Main St. to Monroe St., used to be the yard. I don't know when the current, significantly larger yard (extending southwestward from Winneconne Ave.) was built, but a map from 1909 shows the yard here.

CSX 3131, BNSF 5791, UP 6473
Description:
A colorful trio of foreign visitors lead a through freight parallel to Harrison St. and approaching Kampo Rd. as it heads southwest via CN, former SOO, rails at Neenah, WI on 14 May '18. Neenah Foundry Plant 2 & Plant 3 are partially visible in the background. Plant 2 opened in 1960 and Plant 3 was built in 1967. Plant 1 opened in 1918 and stood about a mile to the north, until it was closed in 1994 and eventually demolished. A remnant of the former C&NW main line, now relegated to a passing siding, is visible to the right. I am curious to learn where the new turnout (stacked in pieces between the tracks) will be installed.
