| HLCX 1070 rests on former CN rails on the west bank of the Fox River at Green Bay, WI, on 9 Jul. '22. These rails were originally laid by the GB&W/KGB&W circa 1895. The swing bridge was built circa 1924, to replace an earlier bridge. Some references suggest that these rails and bridge were joint GB&W/C&NW. I got all excited when I first spotted this locomotive here, thinking the FV&LS (or FOXY) was waiting to cross the bridge to work the other side of the river. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment, when I realized the locomotive was silent and dark. The scene is bracketed by St. Mary's Cement on the left, and Graymont on the right. |
