C&NW Menasha, WI Freight House
Looking southeast at the north end of the C&NW freight house adjacent to the CN, former C&NW, Neenah-Menasha yard at Menasha, WI on 15 Oct. '16. The depot/yard office (just out of frame to the left) and this freight house were built by the C&NW in 1965 at a cost of $15,000 and $400,000 respectively. The contractor was Consolidated Construction Co. of Appleton. The freight house is 552’ long and 50’ wide (the first 50' of this end are only about 30' wide) and could hold 11 freight cars inside. A 3,500 sq. ft. office was included on the southeast corner at Sanford St. The turnout and track leading into it, as well as some yard tracks, were torn out in Sep. 2013. I do not know if they use the entire building, but the southern portion is currently home to FRSTeam by Gunderson. The spire of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, which stands near the south end of the freight house, can be seen rising above the trees at left.
