GB&W New London, WI Depot
The former GB&W depot sits on the east side N. Shawano St. about 500 feet north of the CN, former GB&W, rails in New London, WI on 31 Aug. '13. Depot has been moved from its original location, at least twice. The 1913 Sanborn map (and earlier maps) show that it was built near the north end of McKinley St., about 800 feet southwest of and rotated nearly 90 degrees clockwise from its current location. At some point it was moved about 400 feet east of its original location to the east side of N. Shawano St. Photographs suggest that move occurred between 1949 and 1964, but some references imply the move occurred earlier. Its current location is about 500 feet north, northeast of and rotated nearly 90 degrees from that second location. You can clearly see where the GB&W sign used to reside on the south end (originally west end) of the depot.
