| Description: |
A large CN through freight has taken the east leg of the wye and fouls Millview Dr. while setting out and picking up cars at the north end of the former SOO yard at Neenah, WI on 5 Jan. '18. This train usually takes the west leg of the wye and fouls N. Lake St. while doing its work, but MoW crews were replacing a section of rail at that grade crossing at the time. The Fox Valley Energy Center (formerly Minergy Fox Valley Glass Aggregate Plant) loomed beyond the train, until demolition was completed in the spring of '16. Opened in Jan. '98, it stood idle since 15 Jun. '13. |

| Description: |
A CN container train heads northwest via former SOO rails at Fremont Station, WI on 6 Jan. '18. The station sign says Fremont, but this site is 2 miles northeast of Fremont's village limits. This location is historically known as Fremont Station, but it is labeled Fremont Sidings on some old maps. The siding on the north side of the main line still sees some use, but the siding on this side (south side) of the main line that used to serve this and at least two other facilities has not been used for a long time. The rails are still there, obscured by dirt and vegetation, but the turnouts are gone. Train had two locomotives, CN 2230 pulling and another locomotive pushing. |

Local was headed for Appleton, Little Chute, and Kaukauna. The C&NW bridge was built by Wisconsin Bridge & Iron Co., North Milwaukee, WI, in 1923. I was standing under the former SOO timber trestle bridge, also in use by CN. |

A CN local crosses S. Story St. as it heads northeast via former C&NW rails at Appleton, WI on 18 Jan. '18. Local was headed for Little Chute and Kaukauna. The train would have been hidden behind the historic Pierce Manufacturing plant that occupied this city block from 1917 until it was razed in 2011. This plot of land has been divided into lots for Habitat for Humanity and some homes have sprung up to partially obscure the view. |
