W&C, later MT&W, Tomahawk, WI Depot
Title:  W&C, later MT&W, Tomahawk, WI Depot
Description:  I am nearly certain that this is the south wall of the Wisconsin & Chippewa (W&C) depot. This building is about the same shape and size as the W&C depot depicted on the 1892 Sanborn map, but it may have been built about the time the W&C was incorporated in 1891. It was built about 350’ south of the W&C (later MT&W) bridge over the Wisconsin River, near what is now the W. Somo Ave. grade crossing. It was moved to its current site (near the intersection of Marinette St. and Forest Pl.) between 1898 (when the W&C was acquired by the MT&W) and 1901 according to the Sanborn maps. At that time the MILW tracks passed on this side of it and a pair of MT&W spurs ran behind it. I'm not sure if it is still owned by the railroad or not, but other buildings near it are owned by the TR, including MT&W’s ca. 1894 depot which stands about 500’ to the south.
